Welcome to the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority Police Department website. The Bob Hope Airport was originally constructed in 1930 and was called the United Airport. It was purchased in the 1940’s by Lockheed and was the birthplace of some of Lockheed’s finest aircraft, namely the P-38 Lightning, SR-71 Blackbird, and the F-117 Stealth Fighter. The Airport was sold by Lockheed in 1978 and is currently owned by the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority, a governmental entity much like the 3 cities themselves. The Bob Hope Airport serves the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys , Ventura , the High Desert and Santa Barbara . It is a powerful economic generator for business, and a dedicated community partner in the Burbank and San Fernando Valley communities.

Today, the tradition of duty, honor and service that protected this facility and this nation during WWII is alive in the men and women who are the Airport Police Department. Our Officers are on the frontlines in the war against terror each day, and we do not take this responsibility lightly. We apply the highest level of professional, innovative and dedicated service, in achieving service and safety for all who transit, visit or work at this facility. We consider all persons who transit this Airport our guests.

It is our goal to make your experience at the Bob Hope Airport a pleasant and memorable one. To achieve success in our mission we must continue to develop a new brand of Community Oriented Policing that seeks partnerships in achieving success. Partnering with our neighbors, the TSA and FAA, our airlines and tenants and guests will enhance our effectiveness and our ability to ensure that the daily business of our stakeholders is done in a friendly, open, safe and positive environment.

On your next visit to Bob Hope, you will see police officers directing traffic and facilitating the flow of guests into and out of these facilities. You will observe them ever vigilant in protecting our guests, airlines, visitors and employees from the threats of crime, and the nation and our economy from the threat of terrorism. You will see them imbued with commitment that is inherently American, standing ready to continue our tradition - the tradition of honor, duty and service to others.
